The 4 p's framework
The 4 P Framework developed by Dr. Brownlee helps students discover careers and supports adults changing careers through storytelling, AI, community activism, career exploration, and personality assessment while connecting their goals to People, Profit, Planet, and Purpose.
Storytelling Career Mapping framework
Storytelling Career Mapping is a six-step framework that connects students’ lived experiences to strengths, career exploration, education pathways, AI literacy, and college access. Through storytelling, assessments, research, campus experiences, and continuous mentorship from college students, participants learn who they are, what careers fit them, how to prepare, and how to navigate a changing workforce with purpose and confidence.
Dr. Brownlee biography
- Dr. Lewis Andrea Brownlee is a polymath, educator, scholar, entrepreneur, storyteller, and community leader whose work connects technology, artificial intelligence, education, culture, history, and social change. With 20 years of teaching experience and eight years in civil and mechanical engineering, he helps students recognize their potential and pursue meaningful careers.
- Dr. Brownlee teaches throughout the Maricopa County Community College District and adjuncts at Arizona State University. His teaching spans Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Storytelling, Education Studies, African and African American Studies, Ethnic Studies, and First-Year Experience. He connects classroom learning with identity, ethics, opportunity, and community responsibility.
- His teaching career includes eight years in high schools across Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Georgia, teaching world religions, honors engineering, economics, and world history while coaching girls’ basketball. His engineering background informs his approach to examining systems, solving problems, and connecting technical knowledge with creativity, culture, leadership, and the human experience.
- Growing up in Georgia during the crack era, the War on Drugs, and the War on Crime, Dr. Brownlee experienced circumstances that shaped his understanding of race, opportunity, and survival. He attended five high schools, took five years to graduate, and finished with a 1.9 GPA. Education transformed his life.
- College helped him develop his abilities, understand his experiences within broader historical and social contexts, and imagine new possibilities. His journey from a struggling student to an educator with a doctorate grounds his conviction that past difficulties need not determine future opportunities. He brings that belief into his teaching daily.
- Dr. Brownlee earned his Ph.D. in Educational Policy Studies and Practice, with a minor in Cultural Diversity in Education, from the University of Arizona. He also holds a Master of Education, a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies, an Associate of Arts, and an Associate of Applied Science in Drafting and Design.
- He created the 4 P’s framework: People, Planet, Profit, and Purpose. Combining storytelling, artificial intelligence, community activism, workforce research, career assessments, and personality assessments, the framework helps learners explore careers that serve communities, protect the planet, support financial stability, and connect their talents and educational choices with a greater purpose.
- Dr. Brownlee serves as a Phi Theta Kappa advisor, Educators Rising advisor, Foster Youth Champion, and advocate for first-generation students. He serves on Phi Delta Kappa International’s Board of Directors and is an Impact Arizona Fellow with Arizona State University’s Center for the Study of Race and Democracy.
- An ACTEAZ member since 2011, he develops courses, workshops, and programs addressing artificial intelligence, storytelling, career exploration, educational leadership, multicultural representation in STEM, and student success. As founder of Logos Educational LLC and Athoenix LLC, he collaborates with educators, institutions, nonprofits, and community partners to create purposeful, culturally relevant learning experiences.

Inspired by Bryan Stevenson’s belief in the power of proximity, I have committed my work to living, serving, and educating alongside people experiencing the greatest challenges. Proximity is not simply part of the solution—it is the solution. To address homelessness, we should interview 100 people experiencing homelessness, listen to their stories, and give them a meaningful seat at the decision-making table. To reform the criminal justice system or address poverty, policymakers should spend a night in jail, attempt to live on minimum wage, and experience the systems they are responsible for changing. Solutions should not be created at a distance by people who have never experienced the problem. Through teaching, mentoring, storytelling, and community engagement, I help students transform their lived experiences into purpose, opportunity, policy solutions, and meaningful change.

Dissertation: Alternate Pathways of Certification as Ideological State Apparatuses: A Critical Race
The advantage for the school districts and the preservice teachers is that alternate pathways are a cheap and quick way into the classroom. But for students, especially Black students, these preservice teachers are not introduced to anti-racist curriculum and pedagogies that help address racism and combat anti-Blackness. These alternate pathways reflect neoliberal approaches to solving public problems by sidestepping racism and adopting market-driven approaches to a solution.
